Hi,

I've been keeping amphibians for a while now, mainly Xenopus, axolotls, FBT's and Whites tree Frog.

I found a product called Lee's firebelly landing and was just wondering what you lot thought about it. I couldn't find any reviews on this product.

So (cat amongst the pigeons) What do you think?????? Confused

Not that i'm an amphib expert, but to me it looks like a piece of crap. Possibly good as temporary accomodtion when you are cleaning out etc, but so is a tupperware tub Smile

I have not used one myself. I prefer a more natural type set up, cork bark moss etc. Not so keen on all in one pre-made set ups. But I do know people that use them and they have been happy with them. All personal choice at the end of the day.

I think the Firebelly landing is sold as a starter kit in most herp shops. Again a plain ole tank can be updated time and time again for a variety of species.

A quick moan; starter kits hmmmm don't like them. Not seen many good ones about, lots of them seem to me unsuitable for the actual species, and I would guess you may buy one and end up changing it all anyway at some point, so its not allways the cheapest or best option, just a view.

are tiny.

I would definately not use it for adult or even juvenile toads as it doesnt look big enough and is cheap looking etc.

Only good thing it does really is the lift out tray for changing water but dont buy one if you intend keeping it as your setup permenantly.

Basically you get what you pay for but it should be good enough for tiny fire bellied's

Yes it will be fine for the toadlets matey. Your right in only using it for the young toadlets and not for adults or juveniles IMHO.

Thanks for your opinions guys. My FBT's are in a natural set up and have been quite happy for about 3 years.

I was looking at the item as a short term display tank (4-5 hours) as I teach and occasionally would like to show the animals to the children as part of the National Curriculum (I teach Science)

It's an American product and after looking at their website a lot of the accommodation seems to suit humans more than animals. (in my opinion)

yeah they get transported in worse, and as its only for a day at most will be fine.

The box is laughable though in what it states can be kept in it......very misleading to parents with no idea etc.
