In the evening we often let out Izzy and Oscar, our two Boscs, to roam around our living room. Unfortunately, Izzy often just comes out to do a huge poo in the corner of the room and then goes straight back into her viv. Lets just says this is possibly one of the worst habit's going and the worst smell in the world! While we understand her need to relieve herself we would be grateful for any suggestions to prevent her from doing this in our living room, as it becomes very unlivable.

Is she marking her territory or does she just like this corner? Why isn't she just pooing in her viv like Oscar?

I am glad to say that Oscar is much better behaved.

Just curious, does she allways do it in the same place? Or perhaps even just the same distance from the viv? Just wondering if the actual movement created by a longer journey from one end of the viv to the other is causing her to feel the need to empty herself.
You mentioned you let them out on a night, have you tried during the afternoon? It may be that her freedom time coincides with her toilet time?

you know how much you hate that smell? So do monitors, which is why they'd rather dump as far away from where they sleep as possible (which just happens to be your living room).

One thing you can do is to cover that area in newspaper. Monitors often defecate in the same spot, so it'll go on the newspaper and will be easier to clean.

If you really want the monitor to stop defecating in your living room, though, there's one sure way you can do that: Stop letting the monitor out

Dan, always the same spot. Sometimes she walks out of her viv poos in the corner and then walks straight back to her viv.

maybe place them in the bath first with some luke warm water this often encourages them to go and then see if it does it again in the lounge?
