Professor Rick has found an ingenious way to feed off and dust your fruit flies. Ideal for baby chameleons, baby amphibians, dart frogs etc.

All you need is the following:

A tall jar

A piece of a pair of tights

An elastic band

A small to medium size kitchen funnel

And lastly a blunt pair of adults

Put your dusting powders in the jar to suit.

Cut a double piece of tights to cover the jar. Secure to jar with elastic band around the rim. Pull tights tight, make a small hole in the middle of the tights in the centre of the jar opening.

Inset your funnel into the hole in the tights push in a few inches, the tights at this point will need to be pulled tight again. The action of pushing the funnel in a few inches will ensure the tights tighten around the funnel.

Tap your fruit flies into the funnel, tap jar if they start to climb the funnel sides. Once in the jar they will not be able to get back out.

Give the jar a gentle shake to distribute the powder and cover the flies. Remove the funnel, and just tip the flies into the herps viv, tank etc via the hole in the tights!

So simple but it really does work well!

Good plan Rick Don`t you find you get comments about your tights being laddered when you next wear them though?
