Excellant detail Stu. Any full body shots? The reason I ask is I am a bit of an Odonta enthusiast on the quiet from my pond dipping days. Smile

From looking at the head it looks like a Southern Hawker which would fit in with where you live as well. Aeshna cyanea. Could be wrong though, but a full body shot would solve it.

Top pics as per usual Stu! I like dragon flies, my mate used to make the most amazing dragon fly carvings and paint them up and then turn some into clocks. They used to sell like hot cakes!

Cool Cheers Rick..I really like the dragon flies but they are really difficult to take pics of as they never stay still so when I found this one in the outhouse I shut the doors and snapped away. Here are some body shots Peter.

Beautiful Stuart. Aeshna cyanea, and a female. The males have blue markings as well as the green. Here`s a link for you to a chap who is full on into his Dragon fly photography. Wink http://www.david.element.ukgateway.net/dragonflies2a.htm
