Decided to change over my nesting boxes and nest substrate 4 weeks ago, the old boxes were grey plastic with a peat / sand mix.
I changed over to clear boxes (so I can monitor any activity with digging in the nest box) and sand as it holds tunneling and moisture far better.
I was rewarded within a week of the new boxes with glauerti eggs (as posted in another thread).
Anyway, 4 weeks after swapping the boxes over I decided to have a clear up in the garden (where I had put all the old boxes), I emptied each box out to reuse the peat sand mix for something else, on the last box as I tipped the mix out I found 3 eggs!!! All 3 looked great despite being in a bone dry mix AND outside in UK weather for 4 weeks (had had a week of dull cooler weather too!)
I have no idea what the eggs are from, either Red ackies, Glauerti or Tristis....I doubt if they will hatch but they are still looking good so who knows _________________

Well, all the best of luck with them. That would be very cool to have them hatch. It would be quite a suprise I'd imagine. Good luck.
Cheers,
Adrian |

Fingers crossed for you, hope it all turns out ok. We once threw out 10 fossilised beardie eggs during a substrate change. _________________ www.theherphouse.com & http://alleycatz.curvedspaces.com -our homes away from home! |
