New member here - no reptiles yet, still trying to decide on a 1st lizard species to get.

Keep scorps, spiders and rats atm.

Hi, you've come to the right place, have you made a shortlist of what you want from a lizard e.g. active during the day, at night etc?
i

Enjoy the forum!

I have some ideas....
Small...I only have space for a smallish lizard.
Active during the day.
MUST be captive bred - though I guess I'm preaching to the converted on a forum named as it is!
Would be nice if tamable, but not too worried about that - want one (or two) to watch not play with.

yep, perfect Peter, stunning, small, active. Can keep in a really nice viv, planted and natural looking.

Go for one of the smaller species, not madagascarensis or kochi

The smaller species aren't widely bred but you can track them down, the giant species are a lot easier (I have baby kochi available but they need a good 3ft tall viv)

Those day geckos look like an option...as they are good climbers should I sheild the UV/basking lamp somehow to cut out any risk of burning or are they not that dumb?

Also, I have a (small) viv I was given ages ago that I may use...approximate dimensions in inches 30 x 12 x 18. If I were to use a differant setup it couldn't be much bigger.

Big enough for a pair or even a trio in that you think?
