Thank you everyone for the kind comments about Franz F.
No Jan I don't have a long list for his babies, but then again I have not been pushing it at all. What will be will be.
Last night about 10pm he was still awake and restless and wanted to come out for a wander he ended up in my lounge at the top of a corn palm, then climbed across to a kentia Palm. Unfortunately he chose a very light and bendy shoot to climb, got to the top, and looked at me desperately as the shoot slowly bent over and he very gently ended up on top of one of the baby beardies vivs! Luckily enough the beardie was asleep and did not get spooked! Franz looked well pleased with himself and sat on the viv top like he was the king!
I do hope his babies hatch OK and that they end up with the same temperament as Franz. This hot weather bothers me as I don't have anywhere cool enough for the incubators at the moment. I have fans on in the room where the incubators are.
As soon as my frog room is finished (next week hopefully) all the incubators can go in there. Then the stats will be able to maintain the set temps, as the frog room is air conditioned.
If it doesn't work out there is always next year and the incubators can go in the air conditioned room from day one! It's all a learning curve.
Sadly George Meller passed away a week ago. I was very upset, but this is bound to happen and all part of the hobby. He was looking fine and showed no signs of ill health. Went to tend to them in the morning found him dead on the viv floor. Luckily Mildred seems fine. I have a gut feeling that they were a lot older than I initially was led to believe. Only a hunch mind. They do / did look quite old.
My two biggest fears now are, that the eggs will be ok any temps over 80f not good for mellers eggs, and in this heat???????
Also I am worried Mildred will pine for her long term companion. I would dearly love to get another mature male for her, but the chances of finding a CB mature male meller are rare methinks, unless anyone knows any different? Mellers have a propensity to pine when they lose a long term mate. I may have to resort to getting a well vetted WC male meller and see if I can get a mature one, again very unlikely. Mind you the Hamm show may produce something?
If anyone can help with my quest please get in touch, thank you.
I was gutted to lose George, both him and Mildred are / were magnificent herps. Still that is herp life! Gutted for Mildred and George more so than for myself. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Rick I am so sorry to here of your loss. George was a beautiful chameleon a real credit to you, Mildred will miss him, but I hope she doesn't pine to much and continues to thrive for you until you can find her another bosom buddy.

Unlucky with the Meller,
at least you have some eggs, with half his genes!

Just to say that Franz is a whole lot better looking in the flesh. Actually I can confidently say he is the best loking Picasso panther I have ever seen. So hopefuly there will be babies from him at the end of the year Rick? Put me on the list please mate, also that beautiful Nosy Be` red female that you mated up whilst I was there to that other stunning male you have will produce too. Put me on the list for some of those too!
How are your Lateralis major and the other Panthers settling in Rick? _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD
