great collection & photos! So how do you guys go about obtaining animals? Are you allowed to collect or just buy from other breeders? Do you need permits?

Thanks for the comments guys. Basically, we are only allowed to buy from breeders, or in most states, specialist pet shops. A very few people (Northern Territory only) are licensed to collect & trade from the wild. While a lot of the keepers here are disappointed that we cant import, I personally believe that we have some of the nicest reptiles in the world. There are a number of other monitors my wife & I would love to keep (notably Perenties & Emeralds), but unfortunately we are not allowed them here in Victoria. Next on the wish list is probably a pair of Mangrove monitors, but at $4000AU+ they'll probably be a while yet Crying or Very sad

I dont have many pics of the sandfire at this stage, but will take some more as time permits. Apologies for the pic quality, but these are the only pics I have of the original breeding pair. Unfortunately the thermostat went west & the cold snap killed the male Crying or Very sad

One of the more normal Mt.Isa forms:

Those Ackies are amazing! They are really red and bright. Would love to get a group of them.
