Athena is biting her tail again. I woke up a few minutes ago to her rolling around in the tank. I cant do this with her every 4 months!! Will be at the vet when they open, I'll keep posting.
My exboyfriend's snake (a corn) attacked herself about a month ago. She wasnt in the same room as him sleeping so he woke up and found her dead. Tons of blood in the tank and when we examined her body we found a lot of shattered vertebrae. Wondering if that would've been Athena's fate if I hadnt heard her when she first started..... My parents suggest maybe there's some viral infection that they both had. But we were really careful to never touch one of the snakes after having touched the other unless we'd fully showered (mostly because Athena gets really aggressive at the smell of snake). I just don't know. The corn wasnt exactly the same, she didnt eat her tail, she just looked like she bit herself a lot and bled a lot and then rolled so much she broke her spine. But Athenas definitely doing deathrolls around her tail.
WTF is up with these snakes???? Am I doing something wrong??
She's still parasite free, I just changed her tank a couple of weeks ago, new bedding, she's been really active and healthy.
I'm feeding her same as usual.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong here but I don't know what!! |

The only thing I can think of is straight away to the vet... you have washed the snake and enclosure so that there's nothing causing prey scent to be where it shouldn't right? Sorry about your snake & Best Wishes -Deb _________________ All the Best- Deb

I don't use anything like that in my room. I dont ever spray cleaning stuff in here. No bug spray, no carpet cleaning stuff, nothing. Good thought though.... |
