yeah, mine are quite shy, ten times better than when I first got them though (never saw them for the first year Laughing ). I then put them in a cage higher of the ground and they settled down more, only fleeing if I opened the cage. Now they are adults they are happy to stay put when I throw food in but anything else and they hide (tbh I very rarely disturb them or go near there cage).

Funny how experiences can differ. My tristis are not shy at all. In fact I have to be careful when they are hungry or see me with food they REALLY like. The large male will actually lunge at it Very Happy And they are fast!

yep, that's what makes it all more interesting.

I've just been through the cage tonight, sexed them as 1.3, anyone want to swap a female for a male????

Ended up female heavey on all my monitors, 4.11 red ackies and 2.6 on the yellows, let's just hope the pilbars and kingorum end up similar Cool Laughing

yeah Ron i know what you mean they have a pretty good feeding response, my female have gotten so excited a few times that she jumped right out of the enclosure.

hehe Scott you have had good luck with the sexes of your goannas hopefully it wont run out, it would be a shame if you ended up with only male pilbarensis;)
I'm still trying to figure out the sexes of my gilleni i hope they end up 1.1.

my 2 tristis versions are calm too. but it need to use a trick to get the normal ones relaxed. i toke my relaxed acci male into the same enclosure and so they recognize, that they donīt need to run away when i entered the room, because the acci stays where he was. this took about 3 weeks and now they are eating from my hand and the male is hand tame. i even got eggs before weeks ( of course nothing to do with the acci Smile )
i almost wait for my red head to lay a clutch too .

an other question. i got today my first clutch of gillenis. did anybody breed them here ? how are they to incubate ? the most people here in Germany say, like acanthurus, as i did it today. the same question for the tristis .

and the last question. how can i sex adult or semit adult varanus glauertis ? thanks a lot for answering and sorry for some english mistakesī. i tried my best Smile
