Just thought I'd post this photo to show the difference between red ackies (V.a.acanthurus) and Yellow ackies (V.a.brachyrus).
You can see quite clearly the colour difference between the UK bred yellow ackie and the Canadian bred Reds. The colour isn't the only difference, the Red ackies tend to grow quicker, produce larger clutches and have slightly more pronounced tail spines.
The colour of both reds and yellows is very variable, with some yellows (Mount Isa's) being very reddish and some Reds being quite brownish. Other tell tale marks are body patterns and head markings.
anyway, heres the photo

I've seen yellow Ackies that look better than that. Is that one of your Yellow Ackies? |

That's one of my yellows, must admit it's not the prettiest one. I have over 10 yellow ackies, from 3 sources, 2 Canadian breeders & 1 UK breeder. The uk bred ones are no where near as nice as the Canadian.
The reds are without doubt nicer though.
This is a Canadian Yellow ackie (I have some available that could possibly be Hypomelanistic too )

very nice, does look quite red too, although it still has that line running down it's back (I was told that's a marker on them being yellows & not reds).
I see it likes the smell of your feet too! _________________

Hi Scott, me again, drop me a pm in the new year about price of a trio of the nice reds, I'm going to have a 4' viv available next year when the beardies move into their new home, and I've fallen in love with these. I'll work up to the yellows as well
Do they like extra height if you can give it to them? I might raise the height of the 4' and screw some climbing branches on, although I know they LOVE to burrow _________________ www.draco2.co.uk
