I appreciate this scenario has upset you but there is NO need at all to have a go at me. Check your attitude, have a look at my post again where i told him to go to the authorities to offer help so this could be avoided and come back when you can apologise for being rude. If you can't see where you were rude then don't reply to this at all. _________________ TFA

Oh and Karkov, i'm not defending what you did in any way. I just realise that postings on here wont stop you doing this sort of thing. I would rather make sure you do it safely IF you have to do it at all. _________________ TFA

Well if nothing else it's nice to see people passionate about reptiles and protecting them.
Hopefully reading this thread will highlight how easy it is to make a 'quick' descision without fully thinking through the effects they may have latter on.
Also, guy's it must be hard for the two of you, both trying to make your points in a second language, well done. _________________

So funny... | At least I'm glad you like my humour .
karkov wrote: | I realized that is impossible to discuss anything with you... | That's sad.

Why don't you call the authorities to send me to prison?
1. I don't speak Portuguese.
2. I don't have your address | If I could speak Portuguese, I'd tell the authorities, 'This guy Joao has violated the laws. Send him to prison...but..do me a favour, release him a few hours later. I mean, fair is fair .'
karkov wrote: | I MADE A MISTAKE... the snake was in stress, ok... but how about the people who kills them? how about the americans who frequently do round-ups to kill crotalus??how about the ones that die in the road? how about pollution? how about venoms that kills their natural preys?? | I know, you will call me rude again, but I don't think it's a good style to apologize, and at the same time replace a bad example by a worse one.
karkov wrote: | Saying that I do not love it ,it's just an insult to me... | I never said that, Joao! I was just expressing serious doubts whether nature loves you for what you did... And I still don't go along with Dan's advice to make sure you do it safely next time, but make sure, you go home, get your camera and hope to be so lucky to catch it again.. with your lens!
Once again I apologize for my rough tone and I'm glad you have accepted that your behavior was not OK.

Thank you, Scott!
I didn't mean to ruin this thread but raise a different issue, which I thought was more important.

wow, I didn't think my little question about these snakes would spark this thread. lol
Karkov - next time you're out and about, take your camera, would love to see some more pics of this beautiful snake. I take it you don't see them often? |

Hi Peaches,
You can get them in this country but they are very rare, I would imagine there are a few people in Europe that will be captive breeding them but they'd be hard to track down.
Unfortunately most people don't seem to like whipsnakes and racers, mainly I think because of the speed and the fact that you have to be able to read them a little more before going in the viv.
If they are anything like other whipsnakes then they wouldn't be hard to keep at all, but as they are daytime hunters then the chances of a bite is certainly higher than say with a corn or king. But the general care is easy, and to be fair they aren't really aggressive or nasty, just more nervous.
I don't keep the horseshoe whipsnake but I do have a pair of 'Large whipsnakes' which are fairly close to them I believe, the male is very calm but the female is younger and still quite snappy.

Great pics Mike Thanks for sharing. Are you going to attempt breeding when your female is of age? _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD
