I am having ago at culturing mealworms. Thus far I put about 500 in a 3ft glass tank with a base layer of 3inches bran. How long will it take for each stage of development please. Any culturing tips or good site links most welcome please, cheers.

Some more specific questions:

What temps should I keep them at?

How do I provide moisture for them, bit of carrot salad green veg etc?

Is a wheat bran substrate OK for them?

Should I seperate out the pupae from the worms?

Should I house the beetles separately from the rest of the worms and pupae?

How should I house and feed the pupae?

How should I house and feed the beetles?

How and where do the beetles lay their eggs?

What do I need to provide for the beetles to lay their eggs in?

Thanks.

How do I provide moisture for them, bit of carrot salad green veg etc? yeah, just avoid moisture build up

Is a wheat bran substrate OK for them? yes

Should I seperate out the pupae from the worms? no

Should I house the beetles separately from the rest of the worms and pupae? no

How should I house and feed the pupae? pupae don't eat...

How should I house and feed the beetles? same way as the mealworms

How and where do the beetles lay their eggs? Not sure, I think mine lay them on the cardboard egg crates I gave them, thats where they spend most of their time

What do I need to provide for the beetles to lay their eggs in? Just give them a bit of egg crates to live on and they'll do fine

Thanks.
