I personally would use the 50/50 sand and soil mix as suggested earlier. i would also have this at least 6" deep if possible (deeper the better!). This allows your ackies to dig a suitable burrow which they will spend a lot of time in (as they would do in the wild) as well as being able to hold humidity well (i have mine about 55% ambient, and a lot higher in the burrows)

The reptidsand holds burrows far better that any sand soil mix does Ive tried loads the sand is the sort that once youve wetted down forms a crust at the top which keeps below nice and humid

Never tried reptisand but i have never had a problem with 50/50 soil sand mix. Reptisand would also cost a fortune to fill a 4x2 viv 10" deep! lol!

your right it would I know ive done it Laughing

but its far easier to allow a burrow box with it deep it a good basking stack which they use more than burrows anyway and any sand that gets kicked out the box just goes on the floow of the tank which is covered with reptisand anyway makes it far easier to monitor your animals and see postion of the eggs when laid etc
