What does everyone feed their chams in the way of fruit, veg, salad?
I am trying different mix's at the moment, and would be interested to know what others have found that their chams eat please? Also the speices of cham.
When I feed my chams crix etc I always put a small bowl of mixed veg salad etc in so the crix remain feed and any leftover crix have food rather than eating the cham, I use this method with all of my herps in case a stray insect remains. The other day I noticed my 6 months old Nosey B blue munching out of the mixed insect feeder food bowl. He was clearly lapping up some cabbage! My mellers also eat a variety of veg at times, also they will try to chew plastic plants!
So any experiences from other cham keepers on this subject would be great to hear please, cheers. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Hi Rick.
I'm glad you bought up the subject as iv'e been meaning to post this one myself. my adult male Nosey Be takes water cress & peeled grapes by hand & also eats the live plants in his viv. he seem's to prefer Devil's Ivy (pothos i think its called) the most. also a couple of day's ago i found a silk leaf in his poo. it doesn't appear to have done any harm as he's been since. i too put in veg for any crix which are left. i also feed pink mice (defrost) once a month (he love's them). |

Thanks John,
I've not tried the pinkies yet, keep toying with the idea though, I know Mildred and George the mellers would take them. Yes I put grapes in but I don't bother peeling them. Not tried cress but I will do. I have two nice pothos plants but the other half likes them on display! I shall shove them in the vivs I have heard kiwi fruit goes down well so will try that when I get round to buying some. I suppose plain old trial and error see what works best. cheers. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

We always have a pot of salad cress in the flexi and some spinach, tried broccoli too because of the high calcium content but it pongs after a couple of hours. The crickets are not too bad with the plants but hoppers are serious plant munchers, Bud's got a yucca, on umbrella plant, a rubber plant and a couple of smaller palms and despite moving the cress the hoppers have a nibble on all the plants too. Only seen Bud munching the umbrella and rubber plants plus the cress, guess the Yucca is a bit tough. |

Cheers Bud, I am now putting in daily, a small tub of finely chopped mixed fruit and salad. I use umbrella plants and ficus but they dont eat either! The only things that eats the plants are the locusts! _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
