You honestly just could not make this up, i am sat here shocked this has happened.

Ok, so from the start. As most of you know i recently got a new snake that has absolutely no care information about anywhere. As a result i have been playing around with what i may or may not be able to get it to eat. As the species is a rat snake i thought maybe eggs as many are known to take them. Plus this is a highly keeled animal so i combined the 2 and thought eggs from a water dwelling bird. The plan was to get some duck eggs and see how we went. This idea formed at some point last week and since then i have been looking for someone local with ducks to get some eggs.
However on tuesday this week i was out walking the dog up by a small pond and we came across a nest with 7 eggs in. The eggs were all cool and after sitting a few yards away for a while it was obvious mum wasn't coming back. So we left the eggs and walked on. On the way back i checked again and the eggs hadn't been warmed up any and no large birds were anywhere to be seen. I thought why not and took the eggs (complete with nesting material) and brought it home. Once i got home i put the eggs and the nest in the snakes viv (thinking the nest material smell would attract attention)
Every day i have been going in and turning the eggs over so the smell is allwats fresh but he showed no interest in the eggs. My plan was to take them out this morning and bin them as i suspected they'd be starting to smell soon.

Instead of finding 7 eggs to throw in the bin this morning though i found the following:

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

So as it turns out i have incubated the eggs in a snake viv!! That has to be a first!! LMAO
So far 4 of the 7 eggs have pipped, 1 is out (as shown) and 2 are still unaltered.

Whats the odds of me hatching duck eggs in a snake viv (complete with 10ft angry snake)??

I'd like to make it clear this was unintentional, no temp measuring etc has been done, the box was just placed under the heater to help propagate the smell.

Couldn't do it again if i tried Surprised Cool Very Happy Laughing

Leave them to dry (away from the snake), and they'll fluff up.
