Since i last bred Leo's the different ways that people are incubating is extreme.
I previously used a Viv and a build that was it and got 75% hatchlings.
Now i have a poly box, i cut a nice square out the front and silicone large piece of perspex in to make a viewing window and even raised the egg boxes off the mat .
I have 2 mats controlled by a pule prop stat, one is side mounted so one side is warmer than other so i can do male and female Leo's in same incubator.
Al good and simple so far.
Problem is out of the few eggs i have had this year i seem to be getting a fair few go moldy,
when i mix the vermiculite i do till it will form a ball type shape but not drip water (hope this makes sense).
I have however been using egg boxes made from shallow Tupperware (kind you get a curry or Chinese in and boy do we have a lot)
I started with putting no holes in the boxes and they all seem very humid and steam up.
Do you think i would do better with more ventilation, even the nearly dry vermiculite creates moisture on the lid.
So the question is hole or no hole , too wet or to dry.
I like the look of the brinsea but how do i make 2 eggs male and rest female since it is same temp all over within??
Any comments would be appreciated as long as they are nice comments |

as Jamie say's try a much bigger container, I have switched over for all my crested geckos now to an incubation substrate about 4" deep with 1" perlite on top, this holds 50 eggs per container. _________________

I use 12 x 8 approx, garden progator trays can add cheap prop lid if required and also regulate air flow. This is for chams though. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
