Hello
pic of my just purchased 50% het for albino female royal. I will hopefully get some better pics when she stops trying to bite me. She weighs in at 900g and was born in 2004. Great bloke I bought her off assured me she had not fed for a couple of months so am hoping she will kick in soon and put on enough weight to breed her this coming winter?? |

Thanks
Its going to be annoying because I know she is old enough, just not heavy enough to breed, up until she stopped feeding she didn't miss a feed for 15 months. I will be care full not to bug her and let nature run its course, I will offer her food every few days. Hopefully she will start sooner than later and breed with my 100% het albino. He is a little over 600grms so should be at least 800grms by end Oct.
thanks

I find that most of my female royals when they hit 900g's they go off feed for some time, don't know why maybe it's a hormonal thing like puberty or something, it's frustrating but stick with it(and don't expect anything to happen in a hurry!) Best of luck

thanks Adam
I will concentrate on getting her to trust me. She is like a coiled spring but has stopped hissing.
cheers

Yippee SHE FED.
I bought her a new exo-Terra XL hide, gave her a few hours then (evening)put a rat(about 50grams) In front of the cave entrance and BANG she missed. couple 2nds later bang and the rat disappeared. I very slowly moved away, only pushed the box back in about an hour later (very slowly)
Was desperate to have a look but forced myself to leave it to this morning.
NO rat. rat eaten.
thanks all

Still not very good photo but getting there.
I am able to hold her with only a small risk of being bit, but the best thing is she has had five rats and put on 200grms. Another 400grms to go.
Hopefully this year will be my 1st year of actually producing some offspring!
Expect lots of royal breeding questions once she has hit 1500grms. |
