Hi, I'm new to this and from Cheshire in England.
Please could somebody help me as I seem to keep get conflicting information from shops. I have a 7 years old who is extremley keen to have a reptile from 'Father Christmas'. The shops I have been into recommended a corn snake rather than a lizard and another shop first recommended a leopard geko and then another person in the same shop recommended a flat tail gecko. I'm getting completely confused and need help.
Has anybody any suggestions for a reptile that is happy to be handled, easily cared forand suitable for a 7 year old beginner.
Thanks
Completely confused mum |

hi, welcome to the forum.
Both leopard geckos and cornsnakes make good first time reptiles. The corn snake would be less work overall and once over 18" would be fine for a 7 year old to handle (although not for 2 days after each feed).
The leopard is not so easy to handle as they tend to move more, but they will take food from your fingers.
Like I said, either would make a fine choice for a young child if you supervised and to responsibility for the daily needs of both animals. |

Thanks for your speedy reply, I forgot to say in original post that bearded dragons were also suggested, any thoughts? |
