thanks mattie do u have 1 i just really would like to know how well they interact with humans as i have a step daughter who i dont want biten Wink

cass corns really are a great first snake, I raised mine from a hatchling and have never been bitten, although there is always exeptions to the rule, one of my leo geckos is a demon! ive got to say though they arnt the most active of reptiles ive found mine tolerates handling but is still kind of nervous were as other species seem to enjoy handling like royal pythons ect, mostly coming out at night and hiding most of the day may be a problem espescially if its for your daughter as she probally wont see it too often, as rick said as long as you do your research which you are doing most species wont be a problem to keep, what ive seen of chams they are really special lizards with their own unique personalities and habits, if im honest the chams seem a lot more interesting but im a lizard man anyways
good luck though

cass i have a corn snake, and i use a gardening glove to pick him up i tried once and he bit me, it didnt really hurt felt like a pin prick.. he was so tiny when i got him in nov and is now 2ft long, he is fine with me and even comes to the door when i open it but i still use the glove to pick him up then when i have him i take the glove off.
they are lovely to watch.
i also have a cham and they arent that hard to look after.
i reckon if your going to get a corn snake get a baby

Not sure anyone mentioned this (if you did apologies I have only skimmed the thread) but the setup you listed in the beginning should NOT have included a UV. Corns should not be exposed to bright UV light as it can cause eye damage,
Please bear this in mind when purchasing a set up if you decide on a snake Smile
