Thanks James. They are not the easiest to keep I dont think. But for whatever reason they are doing really well. They have been mating quite a lot when the female will allow the male. She is without doubt the dominant one. They have always been kept togehter as a pair and seem to get on very well. They sleep close to each other, each have their own basking spot (two seperate basking sites set up). They lay nose to nose on their favourite branch.
Their behaviour, mating ritual, and most other common chameleon behaviours are not the norm with the mellers. They tend to do everything the opposite way round. For example if keeping them separately it is the male that you should take to the females viv.
long gestation period, matting can occur over a six month period and so forth. Very challenging to keep but very interesting nonetheless. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Definately, I had a friend who bred them last year and he said the female basically crawled straight into the egg box as he put it in there!  _________________ Regards James Stroud |
