Look as though it's getting there, more arboreal and nice idea to get live plants, ficus and umbrella plants are good. Depends upon your budget but the exo terra flexariums are all mesh and very reasonably priced, allowing for a good level of ventilation, easy to site basking spot outside of viv just lay a couple of planks across the top and rest bulb in reflector dome on plank edges, saves melting the mesh! Can place a 5% uv light inside top of mesh viv diagonally to achieve larger tube, zoomed 5% uv tubes are good. Light intensity is as important as UV output for chams.

I have been advised to also run a strip light tri-phosphur tube to increase natural light. As well as the uv tube.

Site basking spot approx 10 inches from heat source, suggest using a dimmer stat if using a spot type bulb for heat. Made by habistat.

Suggest linking basking light and uv tube to a timer approx £4 from bq. I set mine to come on at 7am and off 7pm.

I set basking spot temp at 90F via the sensor lead that comes with the dimmer stat. The ambient temperature, furthest away from basking spot, should be approx 75f, night time temp in room approx 70F is ok.

A zoomed little dripper costs about a fiver and is a good way of providing a constant drip flow of water, I let mine drip into the plant pots inside the viv.

Variable size branches for climbing are a good idea, such as exo terra jungle vines, can be bent to suit viv layout and come in three sizes.

Plastic and or silk plkants can also be used to bulk out the cover for the cham to hide in, they like to be able to hide up in foliage etc.

Hope this helps.

Rick

in total the whole set up will cost approx 100-150 and i don't have that kind of money and as for whether or not i can afford the upkeep the answer is yes i can (not trying to sound as though I'm having a go or anything) the crickets don't get out because their stupid and i have some cardboard in the bottom of the tank to stop the wood mulch from falling out and it's high enough to stop them from getting out.

There's always all mesh Reptariums available on Ebay, new and used so I'm sure that if you wanted an alternative cage you could pick up a bargain on there. Good luck with your cham, they are fascinating pets to own.

Yes it would, its nice at 4ft high and 30 wide depth could be a little better though, overal in terms of total area it would be good, plus plenty of ventilation. Very Happy

I use the largest size one for my mellors, I must admit for the price I am quite impressed with these flexi varium things. The only thing I dont like is the dark colur and that you cant see the colours of the chemelon so well, but saying that they are economical and I guess the chameleon is not to fussed about the colour of the mesh!

Plus the 30 inch depth ones at 4ft high and above are very large indeed.
