I was going to get this from e-bay, but didn't.

Would it have worked for my yet to arrive Nikon D60? The price seemed good.

(Thanks Stuart, I guess you will be the one advising me here).

Mmm not sure as I know the d40 and d60 have to have lenses with motors built in for AF to work...any nikon af-s lens will work as will sigmas hsm lenses..I believe tamron are doing lenses with motors now..

Just to add the price reflects performance in most cases with lenses mate..if you want that range 70-300mm I would recommend the nikon vr version..cracking little lens for the money

Thanks again Stu.
I will stop trying to look for a bargain.
I do believe you get what you pay for and I always seem to get caught out with a 'bargain'.

The D60 I am getting isn't the VR lens. Will I still be able to put a VR lens on my one?
The write-ups didn't really rate the VR lens much over the standard.

I have never used a vr lens tbh mate..although it does work and will help I'm sure..I did used to own the 70-300mm ed version and that was not bad at all..undoubtedly though the vr version seems to produce better pics from what I have seen, the 18-200mm vr is also a very good General lens

It arrived today...
I am now all Nikon D60'd up.. (Not really sure what that means there).

Anyhow, I have taken a few pictures, well quite a few really, and I can honestly say I haven't got a clue as to what I am doing.

A friend of mine has Photoshop I can have. (The really expensive program he tells me and it can do loads of things. So now I am going to buy the mag that can go with it. I really don't think that is going to help me either though. Maybe a 'cheap' D60 up for sale soon....

Naannnn... I am sure with Stuart's expert guidance I will be shotting for the daily papers in no time.

It did come with some software but I am unsure how basic this is.

This hobby seems a lot more trouble than I first thought.

Trouble is, whenever I see your pictures on here I want to go out and start shooting pictures. (And buy some of them Mantis things. They just look fantastic when you photograph them).

Stop making this look easy.

LOL trust me plenty of practice is all it takes. Wish I had digital when I was learning cost me a fortune in developing films only to get one or two half decent shots LOL
