|
|
Hi all.
Me and my dad are going to be building 2 racks soon, both of which will hold 4 large contico boxes. We have worked out all the measurement and stuff and now know what we are doing.
However i was just wondering would it work to add lighting to the rack. To do this i was thinking of attaching a uv tube down the back of the rack vertically, so that teh light will shine through from the back of the boxes. Would this work?
also does UV pass through plastic?
below is a picture of my proposed design (i did it in paint, its not very good)
Also if it did work, how could i direct all the light into the boxes and not escape out the back. _________________ Tom

lol yes i know that but their are not any heaterpads that are that size.
the boxes measure 521mm x 405mm that means that the heater pad needs to be
26 x 40 cm or 17 x 40 cm and there are no sizes that fit that. the sizes for heater pads are
7W 13cm x 27.5cm
14W 26cm x 27.5cm
20W 39cm x 27.5cm <so this is nearest but covers more that half of the box
28W 51cm x 27.5cm
35W 65cm x 27.5cm
42W 78cm x 27.5cm
62W 115cm x 27.5cm
so i don't know what to use. please help. how do you heat your racks? _________________ Tom

heat cable would do it too tom. i had it on the royals rack, but they need it at 90 and i found it hard to keep it at that, so i changes them to heat strips. my shelves are 6 ft long, so i have two 3ft heat strips on each shelf, but the cable may heat enough for geckos. that way you only need one stat. _________________

well the geckos need it at about 85, would a heat cable work for this temperature? and isn't a heat cable a bit too confined heat source as it is very thin, would you need to make the heat spread out or soemthing?
