We used to live in a top floor conttage flat, Iggi would love to climb up on the windows sill, or curtain poll and sit there for hours. On this particular day Iggi was sat up on the curtain poll, I had just sat down to eat my tea and my boyfriend had just let for work.
Next thing I noticed Iggi was doing a sudden dash accross the window and was heading for a window that had been left slightly ajar . I jumped out of my seat but was too late, Iggi was now sat on the outside of the window frame basking in the glorious sunshine .
I quickly phoned my boyfriend and screamed down the phone "Turn around, Iggi's out of the window hurry!" and promptly put to the phone down before he could even answer me. I was leant out of the window talking to Iggi trying to coax him bay in offering him food - nothing.
I see my boyfriends car come in the bottom of the road and just as he pulls up outside Iggi decides it would be a great time for him to do a spiderman impression and starts to climb down the outside wall using telephone wires etc. to hold on to. Whilst this is happening I am running outside the flat and round to front just in time to see Iggi jump from half way up the wall and land in my neighbours bushes.
By this time all the neighbours are out, wondering what on earth was going on . I run round one side of the bush and slowly walk forward in the hope that Iggi would come out of the otherside and my boyfriend could catch him (no such luck I'm sure he was having a little laugh to himself ). Next thing he darts out of the bush accross the garden.
After about ½hour of running around making sure we can see him at all times and trying our best to catch him safely. He gave up a let my boyfriend catch him. Beleive me that night, when he was back safely in his tank he got the full lecture of "don't you ever do that again, mummy and daddy were scared".
After that no windows or doors were ever left open when Iggi was out of his tank. I can gladly say he is much better behaved nowadays and plays in our garden on a regular basis, usually making his own way indoors when he had had enough. _________________ Proud owner of one monster of an Iguana, and two of the cutest little Anoles you have ever seen. |

Got a phone call at work from my step son last Thursday at about 3:30pm. The message was "Iggi's got out! I went in the kitchen and he was on his way out of his door I told him to get in but he ran past me and he is now in the living room. hurry up home I don't know what to do!". He was clearly alarmed (and although we have had Iggi for over five years, he still has a fear of him.
I left work as soon as possible and drove home, to find a trail of destruction throughout our house. Yes indeed head had opened his door (all by himself) had a wander in the living room, climbed up the clothing on the radiator. Walked all over the sofa, clibed up the CD rack, on to the top of the TV and finally up onto the shelf on the wall. How do I know this I hear you ask?
I follow the poo marks, he had obviously missed his litter tray that morning (when he usualy goes poop), and on his way out managed to wipe his tail in it. So upon escaping left a lovely trail of poo around my house.
When I arrived home he was sat on top of my cooker, very pleased with himself by the look of it . Luckily he had only broken one thing (good going I reckon). But the lesson was learnt and we now have an additional lock on his door. I mean if you were in a room with no handle inside how on earth would you get out. God only knows how he did it, if he could talk I would ask him. I am positive he door was closed fully that morning when I left. _________________ Proud owner of one monster of an Iguana, and two of the cutest little Anoles you have ever seen. |
