My 3 new snakes have come with mites. Fortunatly they are quarantined in a separate room, but has anyone experience of dealing with these? and do they only infect snakes or can they infect lizards (beardies)? _________________ so many morphs, so little money

mites aren't a problem for lizards.
A simple way to deal with mites is to put all your snakes in soak for 24 hours every 3 days. Keep the water shallow enough so that they can keep their heads out of the water easy enough. _________________

will they be ok left in water for 24 hours. And presumably I will need to put them back into clean tubs? _________________ so many morphs, so little money

have done a search on old posts and found loads of advice (thanks for the sticky vetdave). should have done this first but panicked a bit. So, no need to reply to this thread, unless you have come up with something brilliant and new that has not been done before _________________ so many morphs, so little money

i have to agree with scott, i have done this on many occasion and has worked well and done the job.
The thing i like best is the fact i am not using any sprays etc which could cause harm if not followed carefully |

Provent a mite if used correctly is a mite cure all.
Search for glen chandler of jungle phase, he often ahs it in stock about £30 a tin including p&p.
Read instructions very carefully, basically spray e.g. newspapaper in a room away from animals and leave overnight( I mean overnight)
then use the newspaper as substrate and no more mites. Please note it also can effect spiders crickets etc so needs to be used carefully with insect eating animals.

forgot to add with provent a mite there is no need to clean tanks etc and if used correctly no stress to the snakes.
