I've got a couple of Hovabators here that I can free up if necessary, but we are planning on building the main bator in a couple of weeks anyway, so hopefully we'll be sorted just in case Smile

What temp did you incubate at last year Mike? I'm working on 90f as being about right.

Hello
I used 2 thermometer/hydrometers and 2 just probe type thermometers.
Basically so long as they where between 88f on lowest and 90f on the highest I was happyish. I think when I got to the last couple of weeks I turned it down so it averaged 88/89f rather than 89f/90f.
Really hope you get some babies, it is out of this world when they hatch.

mike

I'll remember that Mike, I've seen pics of you bator setup with the probes etc. I can't wait to get babies but if it's not meant meant to be until next season I'll just have to coo over the gecko eggs instead and practice leaping about triumphantly Laughing

Hope you have a good season again this year as well, I jet the distinct impression with royals that if you even blink you can miss ovulation so i could get an interesting surprise one morning, I hope you get the same Very Happy

I'll keep my fingers crossed the snake gods smile on you then Very Happy Glad things are going well for you.

Pershaps you guys can answer what I know will turn out to be very stupid questions that my blonde brain is having problems getting to grips with.

What is the approximate time from Building follicles to laying?

What is the approximate time from lay date to hatch date? I know this depends of temperature as much as anything. The OH keeps asking me for time scales and I just go blank and smile at him with 'it happens when it happens' and then go back to blank again Laughing I keep reading things including Mark Mandics breeding page which is practically idiot proof, but I still manage to confuse myself, anything with numbers involved and I'm at a loss if it gets past 10 Embarassed

the building of follicles seems to be individual to the female and probly is dictated to how much heat she gets and how much fat she has in her body?????i couldnt give a date on that one though Embarassed with the date for egg laying to hatching its roughly 60 day's at about 88-89 degree's Wink i cut my eggs at day 55,only lil slits though

Thanks for that jamie, very helpful, I've also just read all through the link mike posted about ovulation etc and it makes A LOT more sense now. Thanks for that Mike, that's one site I hadn't come across on my web travels Very Happy

I have a feling that my normal female Delta is gravid and that I missed ovulation, she's looking huge, admitedly she did have a small rat on Monday but she looked quite big before that, and he last shed seemed to be longer. Sods law I've just checked through my records for her blue to shed cycle which you can set your watch by with her, seems to be 5th to the 10th of the month Laughing and I haven't got records for the last one, probably due to the new rack being installed and the move over etc. Flipping typical!! Laughing I'm going to give her a lay box just in case, and I'm sure she'll enjoy it whatever.

I think after the weekend we'd better go full steam ahead with the new python bator just to be on the safe side!! Confused Laughing
