Hi i have had a late 07 royal for a while now which i purchased at a show,
Anyway it was feeding every week spot on! Medium fluffs it was feeding on.
It has only shed once since i have had it!! Is this normal as i have never had a royal before.
Anyway it fed for about 2 months. Then i decided i would try it with a rat pink because i figured when it was older it could take medium rats.
But ever since doing this it hasn't fed for about 3 months!
Im getting worried about it!
It is in a small box now to try and get it to feed.
But it just trys to get out of the box when i feed it. Sometimes it shows a bit of interest in the food but then ignores it.
The fluffs have been warmed up in hot water, Nothing has changed to the way it has been fed. i wiggle the mouse in the box.
IS there anything i can do to try and get it to eat.
I might try and put it in a bigger box with lots of hides.
Thankyou Nick _________________ 2.1 Heterodon Nasicus

If you can describe your setup incl. size, temps, hides etc and if you measure with digital thermometer or just stat etc.
Also can you get any pics, as only one slough is a bit odd in all that time.

the joy of owning a royal Ive had mine since September and she has only shed twice but i think she must be coming up to shed soon. she stoped feeding for a month in January it could of been coincidence but she did start eating again when i offered her a medium mouse and she was eating rat weaners before she stopped. so maybe try a smaller size food item and make sure the head is really warm i use a hair dryer to do this. as long as s/he isn't losing any weight then i would just persevere and keep offering him/her something every 7 days, one day s/her will surprise you and eat it also maybe try leaving the food item in the viv/tub over night and make sure the room is really dark and quiet. hope this helps. |

So not very big.

Thankyou Nick
EDIT i measure with a stat.
And i use a thermometer every now and then to check. _________________ 2.1 Heterodon Nasicus
