Hi all ,
just to give you ,an update on Yemmies leg,i took her to my vet,s on tuesday ,and he gave her an x ray , it is not broken ,but it does move around in the joint ,if it gets to loose it could pop out ,which could mean having her leg off, but at the moment she has Arthritis in it ,so i am trying to give her some padding on her branches ,but some good news ,the baby,s have started to hatch , Rolling Eyes

and thay are so sweet , ,just like their mum Wink

is this a reptile specialist? i cant imagine a chameleon having arthritis, please be really careful because i have heard lots of horror stories about vets!, there are some brilliant vets out there i happen to have one, however i know of some terrible vets that don't have experience in all fields of animals and make some terrible judgments that defy common sense! hope you get sorted soon and gratz on the babies Very Happy

i do agree, it does sound strange, although reptiles, like any animal can get arthritis in old age, especially if trauma to a limb as occured. If the vet is not a reptile specialist then Id recommend Seerscroft Veterinary Surgery in Faygate - only about 20-30 mins from Heathrow, its just past gatwick. Fantastic exotic specialist there, having worked with him, really good and thorough. Please pay him a visit if it is not sorted.

i cant speak for the exotic specialist but i avoid seers croft like the plague, my reasons for this are as follows, i find them to be very expensive, i have bred show quality bulldogs for the last 15 years and have on a few occasions had no choice but to take them to seers croft for veterinary treatment. Case one, they had examined one of our bulldogs and said it had a heart condition which meant it needed medication to survive, we took it to another vet Alan Jones, who informed us that there was nothing wrong with the dogs heart, lived to 10 years old with no medication!!! Case two, took one of the dogs in for an emergency Cesarean, the dog was over anesthetized resulting in all the pups dying and the dog being out cold for 6hours after the op. Case three, we sold a pup which later had exczema, took it to seers croft that diagnosed that it needed lipo suction, can you freeking believe it!!!! we intervened and changed the pups diet, problem solved. So that is my honest to god experience of seers croft, i dont know the mentioned specialist, he may be great but i certainly wouldnt reccomend going there. If you are travelling that far 5 miles away is a no nonsense trustworthy vet Alan Jones, he has been an absolute god send to us. I dont mean to cause any upset over this tigerbaby, it only takes a few cases to taint a reputation and i thought it was best i gave my thoughts on them before i let someone go there.

I do find them expensive, and personally would use them as anything other than for the exotic experience. The vet is Rob Reynolds and he is outstanding in his field. I have worked for them and personally dont like them as a veterinary practice, except for Rob being fantastic with reptiles. I have learnt a lot from him and will take it in to my career. I only recommend him as I know him from personal experience with Reptiles as a client and from working with him. For anything else, I agree and would go else where, over priced and, well you mentioned the other problems. Vets do get it wrong, we cant know everything, but far more is missed by not looking than not knowing Smile

i suppose it must be nearly impossible to have the correct knowledge of all animals that people bring in, i didn't want to tarnish every one there with the same brush, if he is a reptile specialist then he could be outstanding for all i know, so you must be quite close, i live about 5 minutes from seers croft, need more panther keepers in the area lol!

Unfortunately I dont live in the area - I actually live in Potters Bar! I have kept Beardies for years - my male is over 10 now and lost my last female in Sept at 10 years old. I havent yet got my Panther - Im waiting til after the summer once Im graduated as a Vet (then of course I will welcome any reptiles to come to me! lol) - Lee Warren will be keeping a boy for me! and who knows, I may have a girl to. I bred my Beardies for a few years with almost 100% success - only ever lost 2 eggs that didnt hatch out of over 500! And would love to enjoy the pleasures of Panthers growing up. Planning to convert a room for them Smile
