Ok so these are amphibians but there is no amphibians in the field section so here goes..
The common frogs are late breeders in our area and have just spawned this week.
This is the 4th year since i built the pond and the best so far for bredding frogs with about a 100 this week.
Here are a few images taken in the past few days. Sorry if I've already posted one or two before.
Hope you enjoy these as much as I did lying on wet grass taking them!!! _________________ Live for today as your dead for a long long time

Beautiful shots, I went Great Crested Newt surveying last season over in Anglesey so might try that again soon if a date pops up. Great photos mate, is it only common frogs you've seen breeding in this pond? _________________ Regards James Stroud |

Seeing as you have such doorstep access to indigenous amphibians, could I implore you to take part in the Chytrid fungal survey? I am sure that you are well aware of the serious threat that the fungal virus poses to amphibians on a global scale and that there are at least two recorded instances of it in the British Isles. All you would have to do is collect 30 swabs from 30 individual animals (the 30 swabs could be made up of samples taken from a mixed batch of species, as long as they are from the same location and taken on the same day) some time this month and then pop them in the fridge and send off to the address supplied with the swab pack asap. The process is then repeated in May/June.
