right i want to put a ceramic heater in one of my vivs and use a gaurd to protect the snakes but dont know where i can or should earth the bulb and ideas??

Can you not just wrap the earth wire around the screw before you screw the guard to the ceiling of the viv.

is it a guard to protect, say a snake coming into contact with the ceramic. or a guard to deflect heat down.

If the latter, it will need to be earthed and will have a earthing point on it, in the form of a nut and bolt.

it is to prevent the snake touching the bulb!

then if it is to be screwed into wood and not touch th eceramic bulb or holder, then dont worry about earthing it.

The ceramic heater cannot be earthed due to it's nature but anything round it made of metal can be earthed.
