Hi the reason they are called Litoria caerulea, which is Latin for blue is that green frogs have yellow and blue pigments in the skin, and as we all know if you mix yellow and blue we get green.
The first specimens described had been preserved, the preservative removed all the yellow pigment, hence they appeared blue.
