I have a female Yellow rat snake that mated last year with my Great Plains last year.

My female mated twice with him 1st clutch 2006 all eggs were infertile

Last year double clutch eggs were nice shape and colour and began getting mold or caving, which can be seen in pic below.

And dint hatch shop that incubated eggs for me checked some of the eggs that didn't’t hatch by opening them and nothing inside the eggs.

Will this be the same every time due to being different breeds snakes and
Eggs and just keep trying incubating the eggs.

This year going to take some back to friend who owns a reptile shop and I will try it myself by using a viv with mat underneath outside viv and fill viv with vermiculite and water bowl for humidity and use the digit in/out thermometer and thermostat I have and reg temp.

Or am I wasting my time and shops time with constant dud eggs every year.

Also tried a homemade incubator as you can see below with no luck and temp was reg.

i think that'll be the best idea you've had so far - you have a good set up, where as a shop has other things to worry about you can consentrate all your efforts on the eggs - tbh clubrid eggs ain't that hard to incubate.

good luck m8

If I was incubating I would stick with an home made incubator tbh, rather than fill an whole viv - getting the humidity right in that large a space will be bit of a hassle IMO.

There is always the chance that your male is firing blanks!! Have they been brumated before breeding? Sometimes this is not always nessessary, but can help too.

Yellows and Great plains are compatible, in the sense that offspring can be achieved but just a word of caution, selling hybrid/intergrade obsoletus may not be that easy - if I were you, get another, yellow or Great plains and breed that way.

Had a previous reply else where saying place mat on lid inside my homemade incubator so will try that heating eggs from top instead bottom as you can see in my previous post pic.

Will always try something once.
