No, they aren't on the DWA list so getting a DWA license wouldn't exempt him. Otherwise I suspect a number of dogfighters in the UK would have already made use of that lovely loophole _________________ Sophie

As far as I can understand the Dangerous Dogs Act, the act of actually owning a pitbull is not necessarily illegal. However, the breeding and selling of them IS illegal...I think.
To prevent destruction of the dog, it would need to be proved to a court "that the dog would not constitute a danger to public safety". I am no expert on the law though, this is just what i've gleaned from the acts in question.
It does beg the question why he got one in the first place though, as it puts him in a bit of an awkward legal predicament and places the dog at risk?
What's wrong with a Staffy? _________________ Sophie

i thought all pits around at time of ban could be kept as long as certain guidelines were met. they had to be neutered and microchipped and muzzled in public!!!! _________________

The Dangerous Dogs Act came into force in 1991 (with amendments regarding destruction in 1997) so all those who were born before then have probably lost all their teeth by now anyway _________________ Sophie
