Hey ya'll.

For a great while now, my sisters boas have had these damned little bugs crawling all over them. They'v been boxed and isolated from eachother, but they keep comin'.

Wee see no other explaination other than that they'd be coming from their inside? The first thing that comes to mind is their nose. When they breathe they make squeeqynoices and they'r swallen up around the nose..

Ofcourse my sister and her mate have been trying to kill these things, using different methods that'r known.. But as I said, they don't stop coming..

I'll ad some pictures, I hope u can see what I mean..

So what do we do.. ?

snake mites are ridiculously hard to get rid of.

tub all your snakes and use paper as a substrate and read up on how to get rid of them.

http://www.vpi.com/publications/the_life_history_of_snake_mites

this is a good link.

looks like the upper nasal passage is infected - to be on the safe side a trip to the vets that can prescribe antibiotics is in Order. last thing you need is RI or mouth rot in a collection

Method that I have used - and checked with my Vet that it is fine - is to use the Frontline spray that is used on my cats. Put on rubber gloves, spray Frontline onto the palm of the gloves, remove snake from its viv / box and let it crawl through your hands. Obviously do not use too much spray.

Put into clean tub with GOOD ventilation and paper bedding. Only give a very small water dish just in case the snake decides to get into the water and then drink some of it.

Thoroughly clean out old viv / box and spray Frontline LIGHTLY around all joins and into corners. Leave closed for a couple of hours, then open lid - what-ever - and let it dry and ventilate THOROUGHLY.

Next day put the snake back into its former 'home'.
