Hello, I'm designing and building my own 48x24x24 viv, if anyone has a similar size viv could they tell me the thickness of the wood that has been used? I'm thinking of 18mm but unsure if I'm going overboard with that size or if I could go thinner to keep cost and weight down. |

I use standard conti board which I think is 15mm. One thing I do to strengthen them is to run a piece of wood along the top and bottom like in the photos. This stops the vivariums from sagging in the middle.

I use standard 4mm in all my vivs even the big 2m by 1m, the only exception is the venomous vivs that have 4mm toughend glass.
Please bear in mind that my vivs are all locked in one room and I have no children to fall against them. |
