I have not fed them for a few days as they still have food and are not eating, but they are getting tubby... obviously the girl may be gravid but still shes rather fat in the tummy and tail..

I had been feeding them pretty much every day as long as all the food had been eaten...

I have cut it down to once every 2 - 3 days right now as the fat little sods are piling on the pounds

dont think they are fat in all honesty but they are certainly getting plump little tails.

cant get over how tame they are getting right now, my cat even seems to love them, the boy got a huge lick on the face from my cat last night and gave her one right back.

hmmm MJ may need your advise on some wierd frogs I am adopting... owner doesnt even know what they are (white, totally aquatic, fairly large)... apparently easy to look after but she doesnt want to anymore for some reason Sad

Sorry missed this thread, i think it is possible to overfeed if you are feeding the wrong food, too many wax worms and pinkies would lead to an overweight gecko and they make poor breeders, post up a pic they might not be overweight. Very Happy

they get the odd 1 or two wax worms if they are on good behaviour, no pinkies though...

The girl does love her waxies though comes snatching them out of my hand, the lad is impartial right now... but he does love the moths when they are flying about.

will try and get some pics tonight

You can overfeed them and an easy check is to look just behind the front legs. If they are stuffing themselves too much then there will be a small round fat 'bubble' there and its very easy to spot. If yours have that then its either reduce their food amounts, feed less often or allow them to breed Laughing Nothing like a little exercise to slim a male off and females will use any extra fat up in producing eggs. We have several that are really gutsy and will eat as much as possible so we have had overweight gex ourselves, short term it doesn't do them any harm tho I wouldn't recommend it as a normal condition but you want your gex that bit bigger as if they are breeders as pretty soon both sexes will be thinking of something far more interesting than food Laughing Laughing Hope thats a help hon xxxxxxxxxx

Please keep topics separate. This is the gecko section not amphibian. Consider your wrist slapped...lol Wink

Regarding overweight leopards, yes they can be overfed. callmechook has mentioned the tell-tale sign....look for fat bubbles in the pit of the front legs. As they are adults you can significantly reduce the frequency of the feeds - say once or twice a week will be fine.
