(accidentally posted this on other topic!)
i am due to get my baby royal on saturday and would like to get her viv really nice for her. Can anyone suggest what i could put in there for her without stressing her out? She will be in a very small space for now (18"X12") as she is kept in a container a bit smaller than this at the moment.
What i'd like to know is:
1: what size water bowl should i give her? should it be big enough for her to get in it?
2: what are the best types of plants to use?
3: what is the best type of hide for her?
She is only 16" at the moment.
Also i would like to know how often i should expect her to shed and how often and how much should i be feeding her?
any other info would be appreciated!

Hi
A small contico box is ideal size for a baby.
Small ceramic bowl, and cork bark or half plant pot or plant pot saucer with hole cut in will do as a hide.
Id not bother with plants, royals are heavy bodied and any plants may be OK just now but would quickly get destroyed pulled down etc...
I feed the baby royals fuzzie rats (try to stick to rats) every 5dys. She`ll shed as she grows, roughly every 3-5wks if shes fed adequate sized food items.
Put a search in yahoo or google for royal or ball python care sheet you`ll get loads of info

got my snake today, shes absolutely great. really healthy looking and loves to explore.
just one more question though... she is being kept at my boyfriends and hes going away from weds till friday night. I don't live with him (just stay most nights). Do i need to go and drop the temp every night or is it ok to just leave it for a couple of days? i can always keep her here if its a problem..
Thanks, Emma |

I wouldn't worry about dropping the temp while he's away, in fact I wouldn't worry about giving a night time drop at all, not for a pet royal python anyway. _________________

My young royal is in a large contico heated by heat mat on pulse stat..and I never change the temps for night time..ambient air temp drops anyway so I just leave it as is. _________________

what stuart said i never drop the temps on my royals as the air is colder at night anyway so it drops off itself _________________ boas and burms |
