Scott took a badly burned royal in earlier last year. it was all underside damage though, but he was advised to give him some treament with an iodene based solution. I think it was called betnadine or something like that. what we did was mix the solution with warm water, soak an old towel in the solution, wring it out then parcel the snake up in the towel. the 'snake parcel' was placed in an empty contico and allowed him to find his way out of the parcel, giving his body a good treating without getting him unduly wet. his regular contico was kept bone dry inbetween treatments and his water dish was kept to a minimum to stop him from getting wet. he is now one of Scotts best feeders and is growing well. it took a good half dozen sheds to see a big difference but he is now completely cleared up with no after effects appart from very slight scarring near his vent. This is him the night we brought him home.

You re homer is obviously in alot worse condition than this one was, but I am sure you will see him through. I cant find the pics of his belly but needless to say, Scott is happy now the snake is ok. We changed his name to Burnie, to remind us of how he was when he came

Karen, that is such great thing you are doing for the royal!!! Very Happy Was so sorry to see the injury to the ball! Sure with your kindness and care he'll be back to normal in no time. How were the burns caused? I thought heat mats on a temp stat couldn't get that hot?! Wonder if the wounds could also be cuts and grazes? Sorry, i probably need to get some specs LOL. Bless ya for your caring, Troy Very Happy
