hi could someone tell me the age a female yemen will start to produce eggs ours is 5 mnths and i wondered when i need to give her a laying area

Hi Shelby, it varies some start around 6 months, others later, is she showing ang change of behaviour or colouration - Bud goes really yellow and black when gravid. If your cham starts scratching around at the bottom of the viv, or even heading to the ground more than usual, then get a nesting pot in there. It wont hurt if the pots in a bit before required, in fact it will help her get used to the additional furniture before she needs it. We out a half lid on Bud's pot so they feel secure and the pot best imitates a dug out cave. Dont panic if the first laying session takes a while, Bud was in the pot a few days first couple of times, just be ready to nurture her a little extra afterwards, including a warm Reptiboost bath to help boost calcium levels after what is a draining experience for them.

hi thanks for the reply can you discribe your laying pot better
eg what you use and what substrate is best.
she has not changed colour still bright green i'm a little concerned re the egg laying as you hear such sad stories.
we got her through rescue did'nt think she would make it through the night
but she is still here and has a big appatite she is very grumpy.
not like my male.

I always have a container of washed playsand in my female egglaying chameleon cages once they approach sexually maturity.

If you overfeed her she will likely produce large clutches which will be hard on her and likely shorten her life.
