Right, I know I'm a worrier and this is going to be a longish post so I apologise, but (I may have mentioned it before) I've noticed since I got Hotdog that she has a funny walk.

She seems to strut about more than the other two.. not in what seems an abnormal way but its a more.. pronounced walk.

And to add to this I've found that she gets bitey if I touch her back end.. So I think either shes just a grumpy sod, or there's something wrong....

She gets fed CGD, fruit puree and crickets.. I have been adding a bit of calcium to the fruit as well as it usually having a bit of CGD in it aswell.. but admittedly do not dust the crickets very often, I shall start doing it again. Embarassed

But whereas Biscuit eats anything but seems to enjoy hunting alot, and Spud seems to be loving the fruit puree lately.. Hotdog doesnt seem to have much of an appetite. She doesn't seem to eat much of any of the mixtures that are put out for her and whereas the other two seem to clear their viv's of the crickets in the night (or 5 minutes in Biscuits case Rolling Eyes) Hotdog leaves alot of 'em running around for days Confused Some do eventually go missing but I dont know if this is because shes eaten them or that they have been in there so long that they have found how to escape!

BUT! She is growing at the same rate as Biscuit but is slightly smaller, though I believe she is slightly younger so this is not so much of a worry.

I've tried to compare Hotdogs and Biscuits backlegs and to my untrained eyes and fingers (lol) nothing seems to be broken..

So now I'm thinking she might have a deficiency and I'm taking her into my local petshop so the guy who works there can give me his opinion.. He's not an expert but two heads are better than one so it can't harm..

If you could be bothered to read through that lol first of all welldone and thankyou Razz and secondly.. help! Anyone experienced the start of a deficiency and can give me a heads-up on what to look out for..?

I have a video of her walking that I'm trying to upload to a site atm but its not working so may have to wait til later...

Thanks for any help Smile

xx

There's your vid Jo Cool
And about signs of deficiency - Im not too sure but I think arched back, odd shaped pelvis and then its mouth not closing tight (lips not meeting properly etc).

I got really worried once because my crestie was walking funny (really pronounced as you say). In a few hours, he went all grey and shed. He was just trying to loosen his skin. Laughing

Could be that...?

not got a clue if its maybe just a quirk or serious but he certainly has a little flip in his stride .

as you are doing its probably best to let some one else see him . maybe take along one of your others to compare the walks ..

might end up needing to go to the vets to put your mind at rest and get blood tests done

Ok.. shes not got an arched back, as far as I know her lips meet.. i think i wouldve noticed but i will check when I'm back at the house.. Whats classed as an "odd shaped" pelvis? Photo? lol

MBD... that's a worry!!

And she walks even weirder when shes in shed Laughing lol.. She struts around all the time, and has shed lots of times since I got her.. I've had her since July.
When I first got her she seemed to jump weirdly and never use her tail :S But she seems to have more aim now and I've "trained" her to used her tail by making er grab onto stuff with it.. (pencils, fingers etc)

I'm hoping that I'm worrying about nothing and that she's just got a 'tude lol

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that on that video the bed kinda slants where she walks near the edge so when it looks like she was really flicking her tail it was mainly coz she was slipping Rolling Eyes

I will take Biscuit along too then as a comparison. Smile

Oh, and.. I have been adding Probalance to her water to make sure shes getting the vits.. well.. been adding it to all of their water lol..

I have always thought it was just a quirk but then thought it's better to worry about it sooner than later! Embarassed

And thanks for the responses Very Happy

if they are swollen id be along to the vets rather than trying to fix it your self with extra vits ect just in case it doesnt need them .

im sure a blood/feceal test can be done to check if everythings ok .
