Hi all. Ive had my 2 cresteds about 6wks or so there about 14 wks old and dont seem to be getting any bigger. I feed then CGD every 2 days with fruit added every other feed. They have shed once so must have grown but was just wondering how quickly they grow?? one is slightly bigger than the other and its the one that eats crickets. Would this help it to get bigger?? Also what other live foods can they have?(there roughly 8 cm long head to tail) Many thanks. Paul |

I would think feeding more often would be needed with such young animals, i might be wrong as i dont feed mine on fruit exclusively, but when any of my geckos are growing or were that young (reguardles of species) i fed them every day. you need to remember they expend a lot of energy on growing and so need surplus to be active, might help to up the feeding a bit.
edit: when you see animals everyday you might not notice them growing as much as you might think... they may well have grown but you just dont realise, do you weigh them at all? as long as they look healthy and are active i shouldnt worry too much

as Jenni say's, so long as they are eating and looking healthy don't worry about it. I find that sometimes they seem to grow real slow but then have a fast growth period.
Do you feed brown house crickets or the black ones? _________________

i used to think mine weren't growing until i started weighing them. I guess you just don't notice it when you see them all the time.
Plus as I'm sure u have already read, they grow in spurts rather than gradually _________________

I feed them brown crickets. Smallest size i think. Not that often as i cant always get them. When i said i feed every 2 days i mean i feed them but leave it in for 2days them replace it with fresh.Ive only ever seen 1 of them eat but i know they are as there is poop all over. I also hand feed just so i know they are both eating.I don't weigh them as i haven't got any small scales but i suppose its worth investing in some. |
