Hi my royal is going through yet another fast. He went through one in Dec06 - April 07 and now he is going through another. i would just like to know how regularly he will have these fasts? is it normal to have two within a one year period? Or am i doing something wrong with his feeding. he has just gone onto baby rats i defrost them in a resealable plastic bag then place the bag in a bowl of hot water to heat up. my Boy is 2 and a half years old if anyone could give me any advice would be great. cheers Confused

Our royal goes on and off his food all the time. He also likes his food very warm. Have you tried different prey items, like day old ghicks, mice or baby guinea pigs?

If your royal is an established feeder on rats, i'd just continue with rats to be honest. there doesn't sound like there's any reason to be worried, and i'd only switch different food items if there was reason to be worried.

Sounds like he has the seasons all sorted out, as december to april is usually breeding season and a lot go off their food at this time of year. Do you know how much he weighs? that way your'll be able to judge if the there is anything to be concerned with regarding any weight loss. Very Happy
