Hiya Smile

I have both, i find them both good to handle, both can be jumpy, but they can be really lovely and calm at times. I keep them in the same conditions and feed them the same. The gargoyles are less sociable though, especially fond of biting their cagemate's tails off. This is more the case with hatchlings however...my adult pair seem to enjoy each others company.

Cresties can be kept in groups when young, but males need to be seperated when they can be sexed.

ScottW from here breeds cresties and gargs, and I have a garg from him (as of tomorrow anyway!) You should drop him a mail, he can deliver too!

hth

Most of mine are babies at the moment and I keep them in faunariums until they are big enough to be sexed and kept apart. My current gargs are in a small exo terra, until the other female arrives. They will then be placed in a 45x45x60 exoterra. The cresties when old enough will go into them too.

Here is a pic of my crestie faunariums (The larger one holds two babies i got at the same time) the smaller ones hold one. The little exoterra has my two gargs..

For the babies I pretty much have the same as the adults, the pic isn't clear as they were all just misted! I have some branches, some cork bark and some fake plants. For substrate i have cocofibre, orchid bark on top and some sphagnum moss to help with the humidity. You can keep them on papertowel etc, if you are concerned about their eating and you wanna see if they are pooping or not. I haven't found it necessary to use papertowel as i have seen them all eat, both crickets and fruit puree with calcium/cgd mixed in.
I don't have a water dish in mine, they seem to prefer drinking from the leaves or the tank sides after they have been sprayed every night.

Yep, I'll be there Wink

The main difference I find between gargoyles and cresteds is that cresteds are more 'jumpy' when you handle them, nothing terrible but they do like to make little jumps. The gargoyles seem more content to sit there and suss out what is going on (then pee on you!).

I keep both identically.

Hi there

Can vouch for Scott's cresties I have three from him that are all stunning although from recent posts don't know whether he's got any available at the mo.

Most people seem to keep their babies in faunariums until they are a bit bigger but we put ours straight into a 60x45x60 Exo-terra and they seem to love it. One of ours was being bullied by another so we've moved him/her to their own 30x30x45 Exo-terra for now.

We use eco-earth as substrate with branches and vines and silk plants. Phil1988 gave us a good tip - feed the CGD in milk bottle caps and put several in so they can find them easily. we've stuck a couple high up in the branches (with blu-tack) As soon as the lights go out the two in the big viv are straight in there greedy little buggers. We only feed them CGD now - and will throw some crickets in every now and again for sport!!!!! Wink

If you want to see my set-up there are pictures on the thread Viv Set up MkII on page 3 of the Rhac forum.

Good luck with the cresties they are absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Thanks Carol Embarassed

I do have a very limited number of cresteds, although they are only a few weeks old and not suitable for courier with this bad weather.
