So there has obviously never been any snakes that have cooked themselves on mats by not moving off them then eh?

The fact there is countless threads and pictures on the net stating so, usually in heavy bodied snakes like boas and royals.

If you leave your hand on a mat non stop for days you would burn your hand, the constant heat would deteriorate the skin until it started to burn.

LoL thats it, thats all u can come up with

i dont think thats ALL he came up with. and what he says is correct. i have seen pics of snakes burnt because the mats had no stats or they were not set up correctly.

Lynne, I have all my stats inside the vivs and to prevent the setting from being disturbed accidentally, I use a bit of Blutack.

aye my probes are in vivs on mats. but i have the actual stat stuck to the outside. the wee royal was in a tub, and his stat is stuck on the leg of the rack. but its a stat with a knob instead of the ones you need screwdriver for. human error am afraid. wont happen again though. will triple check everything from now on.

Some things just take experience to learn from Smile

my snakes are all kept in large plastic boxes and are heated with heatmat strips placed UNDER them at one end. Simple - but effective!
