has anyone experimented with different temperatures of incubating eggs ?
i know its possible with leapord geckos but what about cresteds ?
i found out that the oldest 4 of my first clutch are males so far . so im wondering if keeping them all at the same temp if they will all end up males?
i thought it wasnt possible with crested from what ive read online but i was reading a book and in the breeding bit it mentioned that it might be possible but wasnt definate . .
from memory it read
cooler 20-22 was for females
middle 22-24 was a mix
hotter 24-27 was for males .
so does anyone know from experience if it is possible or not?
cheers _________________ Eyeless frogs welcome...

There has not been done scientific experiments so you can't find anything sure about TDS of Rhacodactylus but usually (when thinking Eublepharis and others) cooler temperatures makes females and higher males.
Try and tell us
I'm making my bachelor's degree about reptiles TDS so I'm very interested in these things. Hopefully I can try this with my Uroplatus too soon. _________________ Madagascar - All things bright and beautiful and a little more besides |

I have been incubating approx 200 rhaco eggs at an unheated room temperature, even through the winter. I sometimes walk in the room and think "this is a bit cold...I'll go put a jumper on" So far the same % of eggs are hatching (all be it a lot longer than normal) but so far I haven't been able to hold any back to a sexable age to prove if lower temps produce a higher % of females.
Hopefully the next 50 that hatch will be kept back, so perhaps around June/July I may have some interesting info to post. _________________

yea the next clutch i get i will be trying to keep the temps down to see if there is any way of determining the sex ..
there is still time for my first clutch to even out as males/females so it might be me just jumping the gun . _________________ Eyeless frogs welcome...
