Having never seen the paperwork that could be provided with a snake. I have a question.
How do you associate a particular snake with the certificate/paperwork?

Paperwork is important from a reputable breeder in case the buyer ever wants to sell the animals on - the buyer in most cases will not have the reputation the breeder has.

Its gonna be another of these 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other threads. My son bought a poss het pied female from a breeder who is well qouted among snakey people to go with his poss het pied male which came from the same collection of snakes but a different clutch. We didn't think about paperwork etc and had no reason to question his poss het claim. That particular breeder then offered to prove the female out for him when she is of breeding age/size by taking her to one of his visuals. I dont know if this is something he would do for normal or just something he offered with Scott being so young and helping him out (coz I'm certainly not buying him a visual Laughing ) so I wouldnt like to name him, but he is on here and knows who he is. I'm not suggesting that someone like Scott W should offer to serve all hets/poss hets sold buy him, but it certainly instills a bit of faith in future purchases from aforementioned breeder.

What about a hobbyist breeder that breeds a few snakes.
You have to start somewhere, and if noone trusted you then, you would never seel them.

I think to show the buyers the parents to at least prove you have visuals to prove.

very interesting topic. i think if people are buying hets then they should seriously look around and find a breeder that has a good reputation i spent around a year looking on websites before i finally got my het pied. but if it makes them feel more confident by having a piece of paper saying it is what it is i think the breeders/suppliers should be able to do this but they shouldn't expect anything to elaborate.

reminds me of a story my girlfriend told me about a women who purchased a galah parrot from the pet shop she works in and demanded she had a piece of paper saying what it is. the women said the parrot was worthless with out a piece of paper they did try to explain that for that parrot they don't need any paper work (CITIES) but she wasn't having any of it i think in the end they just made one up for her Laughing

Interesting, would any of you buy a pedigree dog for £500 quid without its pedigree? even though it looked like what it should. I have chams that are specific locals but are they? i have no paperwork to prove that, i only had and have trust in the seller.

This is what I thought. I take it the photo is not incorporated in the certificate in any way?.
The reason I am asking, is what stops people from buying from a breeder and then using the certificate to sell a different animal, just by switching the photo?.
