this is what i did with a wee one i had to tube feed. but dont panic, she was almost back at her hatching weight. as bazzer says get her into the smaller tub. onto heat mat and stat with her hides etc. make sure the temps are 90 hot 80 cool.
now, i know the rule is dont handle till they are feeding, and bear in mind, kya was being tube fed, but this is what i did. IF she wanted out, then she came out. they wont eat if they are stressed, and to be honest, she was more stressed struggling to get out. she settled right down once she was in my hands. they are all differant. if he is quite happy not coming out then fine, if he wants out, give him 10 minutes every day. it will settle him.
when you go to feed him, get tongs, and heat the head of the mouse or whatever he is getting thouroughly on a light bulb. hold a bit away from him and wiggle it, if he ignores it, go back and heat again. keep heating till eventually he will take.
some like it wiggled gently, others fast, its a matter of finding out what your wee one likes. _________________

just to echo what Lynne has said heating up the food is good idea (i always heat the food item up with a hair dryer) also try leaving the food item just outside its favorite hide and hopefully it will be gone in the morning. |

Be quite careful with the dial thermometers. They're okay but not completely accurate and can stick. Best of trying to get a digital one. _________________ "When i'm a big boy I wanna avatar like Johonny. lmao and rofl" |

hairdryers are good, but for spot heating a light bulb is better. the bulb in my snakes room is covered in yucky stuff. _________________

Sounds great Lynne....gungy light bulb. No romantic candles for you then...just gungy light bulbs. lol
Another way of ensuring that the rat is fully defrosted and warmed through to the core, is to pop it in a freezer bag and defrost it in warm and hot water. really gets the heat in there. All the freezer bag does is keep it dry.
Doesn't sound as sexy as Lynne's light bulb though. _________________ "When i'm a big boy I wanna avatar like Johonny. lmao and rofl" |

lol. just use the bulb when it is defrosted. they use the heat pits to log onto heat, so if you spot heat the head they are gonna go for that. it gives off a nice smell too....my light bulb. very romantic. _________________
