Thought I'd post a quick update after their first feeding with me last night. Of the 11 little ones 9 ate and 2 didn't Sad Sadly the 2 that didn't are the Mojo and the Spider Sad 2 of the others struck fed, the het pied female and one of the normals, the others basically got on with it gently. I left the weaner rats in with the mojo and spider and when I checked on them this morning they were still there. I also did this with the Pastel het ghost male and het ghost female and they ate theirs over night along with 2 of the normals. I'm currently recording who ate what, whether they struck fed or prefer them left in rubs to get on with it in their own time so that I can see any patterns forming.

The het pied male was the funniest as he thought it would be fun to drag his rat into his water bowl, and then had great fun trying to drag it out again, but he managed to devour it anyway Laughing

How long should I leave the spider and mojo for before trying them again? The little spider seems a little stressed, and I'm only handling when I absolutely have to, basically if I need to clean anything nasty out of their rubs Wink I think I might provide these 2 with hides, the others don't seem to be bothered, and I know they haven't had hides up to this point, and they are all on a rack in a quiet room.

I also need to check if I should be giving them a light misting at all, and if so at what frequency?

Thanks for everyones interest so far, I'll get pictures when they are all a little more settled, I don't want to upset those with fully bellies at the moment, I had to gently move the het pied male to a clean rub this morning, as he'sleft me a present Laughing

nice selection of royals .the mojo is a cracker.

Claire i would leave the snakes for the week before i offered food again. just give them a little more time to settle in . when i got some of my last lot from hamm 2 of them took over a month to get going. Now they are bigger than some of the ones that eat straight away.

Thanks for the advice Peter, I wasn't sure whether I should leave them the week as they are only little un's, but I obviously don't want to stress them out any more than I have to Smile I'll just stick to routine maintenance and see how we go.

they need about 50% - 60% tops in the enclosure .....going to about 80% when shedding . Normal humidity can usually be achieved by water bowl in enclosure usually. You can get small Hygrometers ( dont get exo terra ones ) from places like Lidl and the like .... ebay probs does them as well ....oh and if using a rack ( IMHO ....best way ) invest in a temp gun as well ....great for giving acurite readings and peace of mind.

Thanks for the advice Peter and Pete Very Happy I've got the nice expensive digital thermometers in the rubs on the rack, they give me temps in 2 places, have to sadmit I cocked up when I ordered them, they were supposed to have the Hygrometers built in as well, I ordered the wrong ones as the place I had planned to get 20 of the damn things from was out of stock, so I'm temporarily guaging the humidity manually, and with an little round hygrometer which I can move about. I've also got a TN1 here which I bought about 2 1/2 years ago for my beardies, have to say it's been invaluable Very Happy

The rubs at the moment have a slight amount of condensation on the walls like a light misting, but their kitchen roll is dry, I've got their water bowls 5" ceramic in the front (cool end) and they are being heated by a 6" heat strip along the back on the box which is covering about 1/3 of the RUB.

They all seem to be settling well apart from the Mojo and Spider. The Mojo seems calm when I have to get him out to clean, and seems fairly relaxed in his rub, he lays there with his head in between his coils or with his head over his coils, but the spider seems to have resorted to the full on ball. My male het pied by complete contrast when I looked at him a couple of hours ago was almost at full stretch with his head peering out of the front of his rub. The rack is designed so that they can move up to 18litre RUBs when they are big enough with major remodeling, so the 9L's they are in now are set back about 8" front he front, thus hopefully providing them a little more security Very Happy

Sorry, I seem to have droned again Embarassed
