Thanks peeps for the nice comments, always a joy to rear these though, the first few wks for some of them (5 or 6 out of the 22 from this last lot and a comparable number from the litter the year before them) is a bit tricky (but a few wks without food is nothing for a new born Argie). After that and its watch ya fingers time when they smell food, once started, not exactly difficult feeders this species!
I've just fed the four above no trouble, even after the todays 'snake bothering' session, of being taken out of their tubs, placed into a bag, put into a dish for weighing on the scales, taken off the dish, taken out the bag, having a cord stretched over their backbone while being restrained, put back into the tub while trying their damnedest to escape.
Don't worry, I zeroed the scales with the cloth bag and dish prior to weighing them. I remember doing about half of them one time and I'd used different bags, without resetting the scales... doh! Back to the drawing board... I got bitten a few times on that occasion as they were young and snappy. Serves me right for being so stupid!
Nothing puts them off grub, for being good they had an ex-breeder mouse and a chick dessert each. _________________ www.ratsnakefoundation.org
